I have been tired and dull for so long I thought I would never really create a new idea again. The battle with my eyes is ongoing. Every time I pick up a needle I realize how much so. I have contented myself with cross stitch. Boring as it is someone else's design but satisfying that itch to stitch a bit. I tried simplifying my work but that only bothered me more. I NEED those tiny stitches and frills. I tried sewing and it's ok. I LOVE my machine and how quickly the work goes, but it is a machine and I don't consider what I do on it art. Maybe someday I will explore it more as I do know many who create spectacular pieces or art on machines.

I don't know why I ignored my love of wire wrapping in the middle of this crisis. I have done a few pieces in the past and I am definitely a beginner BUT it does satisfy that creative urge. I get excited. I start dreaming of shapes and colors. My mind runs on endlessly with the possibilities. Here in this place of wires and beads and baubles I can still feel that creative spark. So I am wrapping again. It doesn't tire my eyes, my fingernails are taking a hit though! I bought a course in design. At first I told myself I was silly. I KNOW design. I have been designing for years but something about this course spoke to me and I thought, "Why not?" I need a little spark to jump start this old brain and spark it did. So now I am working through other artists tutorials to learn techniques I don't know because I really am strictly a beginner with wire. Each piece I have done, though some were quite intricate were hard won for me. I had no idea what I was doing so they took ten times as long as they should. I have a pile of tutorials to work though, several teaching videos and my design course. I already have one original piece designed from my course but I will be slow in creating it as I don't know all the techniques to finish it! I also have several pieces done with the tutorials. I have had many Aha! moments so I know my strategy is working. I will try to upload some of my work here. I haven't for SO long and I am sorry for the neglect. I am dusting off my creative side though and hopefully soon in the near future it will shine...

I started making art before just about anything else. I learned to draw sitting on a church pew with my sister as she tried to keep me quiet during service. I graduated to making my barbie clothes when I was about 6. I went on from there to just about every medium I could get the supplies for to try. In highschool I attended a vocational school and learned graphics art. I went on to work in the graphics department in college while I pursued a degree in fine arts but I left college to start a family and didnt return to my art for a long time. In the meantime I learned to reweave clothing and ran a successful business for a decade in downtown Seattle. And then I met my frenchman and ran away to France. Since then I have been creating once again...
I started out my life in France as a fiber artist. I love all things having to do with fantasy and fairy. I like bright bold colors and work with them most. I love to create extremely detailed fine stitched items, often beginning with a rough sketch and building from there.
I was also a fabric dyer. I love to dye silk, silk velvet and silk ribbons and cotton embroidery floss in bold bright colors to use in my work.
And now I have ventured into the world of wire wrapping. I can't get enough....now I am devoted full time to creating jewelry and it's like a whole new world has opened up for me. I am finding that I can get as intricate with wire as I could with thread and boy does that make me happy :)

Hello - I love your fibre art. The blackwork is a real departure from colour, no? Altho my profile does not show it I love textiles--not to make them but enjoy viewing them and in museums, too. It was great to find your gallery!

Thank you! People often seem surprised when they see me do something black and white or pastels. I DO love my bright colors but I am fascinated with the effect of the different patterns and the rich texture it creates. I always have been a great mix when it comes to art though!
